About The Mountain Warrior DojoThe Mountain Warrior Dojo was originally founded on Friday 19th March 1993 as a place for people to practice Bujinkan Ninpo Taijutsu. Over the years, it did this very successfully, taking students on several occasions to train at the Bujinkan Honbu Dojo in Noda-shi, Japan and helping several students achieve dan grades in the art, including one who passed the sakki test under Hatsumi sensei to be awarded the grade of 5th Dan. This phase of the Mountain Warrior Dojo ended in December 2008. In May 2010, the Mountain Warrior Dojo was relaunched as a private non-affiliated independent study group. The Mountain Warrior Dojo currently consists of a small group of people from a variety of budo backgrounds who are all studying Naginata as members of the British Naginata Association. While Naginata is the primary budo studied in the Mountain Warrior Dojo, this practice is optionally complemented with study of Meifu Shinkage-ryu Shuriken (throwing blades) and Fundokusari (weighted chain). Our regular weekly sessions give us a chance to get together to work on the material between opportunities to gain fresh tuition from our instructors on the regular seminars. To provide reasonable training time for both budo we currently practice on a three-week rotation between Naginata and Meifu Shinkage-ryu. Although some of our members held teaching licences in previous organisations and arts, we do not hold teaching licences or teaching authority in either Naginata or Meifu Shinkage-ryu and make no claims to be teaching either art. We are simply a group of students who organise weekly sessions to work together on the material being taught by our instructors in those arts. As such, the Mountain Warrior Dojo is not open to directly accepting new students at this time and we refer all enquiries about studying Naginata and Meifu Shinkage-ryu to our own instructors in the first instance.
